  • Tivoli Girls Fight For Soldiers

A shortage of men in west Kingston is said to have caused female residents to be fighting for the affection of soldiers who are now posted in the community.
During a recent trip to the area, residents told tales of what they have been through the last few weeks but afterwards spoke of the actions of some of the women while describing it as shocking, but understandable.

"A di same man dem weh dem did a seh a bomb dem up eno ...Yes mi dear, dem woman yah nuh easy, dem dung yah all a pop big fight ova di soldier dem now," one resident, who claimed to have witnessed one of the recent encounters, said.

THE STAR heard there were at least two fights in the last two weeks but nobody has been seriously injured.

In the last incident, one female reportedly got jealous after seeing an 'enemy' of hers sitting and chatting with a soldier.

There was reportedly a subsequent altercation and both women argued openly as to who the soldier wanted, and even threw blows at each other. The soldier over who they were fighting reportedly had to step in to quell the fracas.

While in the company of a group of at least six women, THE STAR was told that those who have resorted to having relations with members of the security forces have done so because their lovers are gangsters who have fled the community, leaving them behind.

"Yuh a laugh like a joke thing, mi have fren weh deh wid soldier and mi ask har how she do it and she seh har man gone and she need har fix up," another resident claimed, as those around her began laughing at her subsequent comments.

"Bway, to some extent yu can't even wrong dem because a pure woman deh a west Kingston now, most a di man dem run weh and dem probably naw come back, suh di woman dem affi fight fi wah dem want," she continued.

When contacted by THE STAR, senior members of the security forces said that they were unaware of such reports. However, a STAR reporter who pretended to be a resident was told over the weekend by a soldier that he was aware of such acts.

The soldier even requested that he be given a 'link' to a girl.

"Bway, a nuff sexy gyal deh bout ya eeh hothead. Buss mi pon a link nuh? Yu look like a gallis," he said during a short conversation.

On Labour Day, the security forces launched a massive offensive on the community and are still carrying out operations there.

Typical, the occupying forces always gets the women after the men have been killed or chased out ... to the victors the spoils

Wonder what the birth rate will be in TG/west Kingston in nine months time
Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.
