Charges against an American man charged with threatening singer Elton John have been dismissed, just before a trial was scheduled to begin.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Esmond Adams dismissed the charges against 65-year-old Neal Horsley, from Georgia - which included making terrorist threats, criminal defamation and using the internet to disseminate threats.
Prosecutors had said Horsley posted threats against John online and that he picketed outside the singer's Atlanta condominium with a sign that said "Why Elton John Must Die".
John apparently raised Horsley's ire when he told an interviewer that he believed Jesus was gay.
The judge said that Horsley's actions did not warrant criminal charges
