  • Criminals reconnect to JPS power

    2010-06-09 18:37:35 | (0 Comments)

Less than 24 hours after Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) workers removed illegal connections in sections of Downtown Kingston some persons have tapped back into the power supply.

On Monday afternoon employees of the light and power company used the curfew imposed by the security forces on the area to remove illegal connections.

The JPS representatives were not selective as they checked all business establishments in the area.

However, on a visit by our news team to sections of the commercial district today, some businesses that lost their power supply due to theft, had reconnected their electricity.

In one instance, it was found that a large establishment in the vicinity of Beeston and Princess Street had its power disconnected on Monday.

However, by Tuesday afternoon, the electricity had returned.

    Checks indicate that no application
has been made to regularise the activities.

The JPS has said that it loses millions of dollars each year due to electricity theft.

Could this also be an inside job. Is someone from JPS collecting a money under the table and assisting with the illegality.

how about prosecution to the full extent of the law... i know a girl who shoplifts as her hustle... recently, she told me that she will not shoplift from macys or lord & taylor because they prosecute to the full extent of the law... they seek payment for the goods, even though they take the goods (so she pays for something she didn't get)... they take her through numerous court appearances at additional cost of time and money... then the court will level court costs in addition to a fine and or time... to her, it is not worth going into macy's or lord & taylor... she hits the stores that she can get away with her actions...
