  • And the murders continue.....

There seemed to be a lull in murders in the immediate aftermath of the security operation in Tivoli and whilst thats a good first step, most murders in Jamaica aren't commited in Tivoli or by Tivoli people. What happened in Tivoli needs to be replicated in many other areas in Jamaica.

The Tivoli situation may be the model for the garrison/organized crime problem but not for many other areas.

The one thing that about it that applies everywhere is that people should have a reasonable fear of getting caught and paying the price when they commit crimes.

It will take a long time before the bloodletting in Jamaica decreases, and the annihilation of gangs and their safe havens in garrison communities is a step in the right direction. Jamaica has evolved into a society where violence is often an immediate reaction to solving disputes.

True! A culture of violence has emerged in many places, which will take a generation or more to fix, but the "fear" of the security forces in the immediate aftermath of Tivoli seems to be going. There was definatley a drop in murders.

                              You sound like Peter Phillips.

The politicians say them can solve crime problem so we elect them to do it. We need action as they promise. We need crime reduce, we can't wait till 10 years time. Cut it by 15% then 10% then, you get the drift. But don't tell it a go take a long time. How long?
