This is true...but the police force cannot be reformed properly in a vacuum

The force is overseen by a totally corrupted political class...that's where the key, defining reform has to occur

All the abuse that these people were subjected to, was because of poor planning, lack of training, the glaring presence of injustice and just plain downright incompetence from the very top down to these law enforcement officers. There is no law enforcement agency anywhere in the world that can be effective or successful without the involvement and cooperation of the citizens they serve and protect. Therefore, a good point to start would be to show some professional courtesy when they interact with the public...how about just doing their damn jobs and show people some respect. Trust me, if they treat people with a little more respect, whenever the situation arise that they have to escalate their level of response, it would be understood. However, this wanton disregard that the police have for people when on or off duty should not be the norm as it is today. It is a sad case when people fear the police as much or more than they do criminals. Maybe if they cease being criminals in uniform, the citizens would respect and trust them a little more and become partners in fighting crime. The bottomline is that the JCF need a total makeover, from firing bad corrupt cops to retraining and ultimately recruiting good, smart law abiding citizens. Regardless of how this thing is looked at, there is absolutely no excuse for the police to just murder our citizens in cold blood like a video game...it is big time almshouse and you all know it, that is not the way police work is done...it is not right...absolutely not right! Many of these cops should go to prison!!
                                Good law-abiding citizens?

Should law-abiding citizens be informers on the 'unlawful-abiding' citizens?
Should law-abiding citizens have been pointing the security forces in the direction of 'suspicious' activities?

...just want to know what makes a citizen law-abiding?

...is the law-abiding citizen a see no evil, hear no evil...but do the evil of living with...thus accepting and keeping the evil nest a place of fertile breeding ground for the evil doers? That foregoing describes the law-abiding citizen?

...just want to know what makes a citizen law-abiding?

                                --------

Some police persons need training in how to deal with the public. Is it too much to ask for a, "please step out of the car, sir" before slapping the cuffs on?

...or modulating the voice in 'calm soft manner' e.g. "sir will you slowly remove hand from your waist" (wherein there is a suspicious bulge) before releasing quick rounds with deadly intent when the action was a swift sudden movement?

Surely not too much to expect?!

The cops are in a situation where requests for compliance with orders must be immediately as ordered. Hesitation on the part of the person so being commanded will slow the cop and increase opportunity for 'something going wrong'...like criminal 'John-Tom' being better placed/having a window of opportunity to harm others and the cop.

The cop has a choice allow the 'non-abuse' and place others and self at risk or 'lick di damn fool who hesitates to comply' immediately to free self to protect self and others from other potential threats...and be able to expend some attention/share attention to the immediate surrounding area....for safety's sake.
