Of course Bruce Gelding "deserves" to be booted from leadership. He has proved himself an unworthy, lying lowlife...unfit to represent himself at anything other than a police lineup.
But we are stuck with him since his cabal of fellow lowlifes in Parliament are providing the glue. The question is what to do with Gelding?
This 9 month saga has resulted in a politically neutered leader who must be led by the nose to do what perhaps no one else would have the stomach to do in producing the once in a lifetime reforms we need.
Since the fellow has little else left to lose...having lost all his credibility (except for the expected sycophants) as well as his constituency....he is uniquely placed to do this unique work.
IMHO...Any other JLPNP leader coming in now would see themselves & tribe as having too much to lose in pushing the needed reforms...plus the public pressure for reform would be lowered.
