  • Unconfirmed: Dudus caught in Plantation Heights area

Unconfirmed: It is rumoured that 'Dudus' has been caught in the the Plantation Heights area, where it is alleged that he has a house there. Will continue to update you on the situation.

73 Killed so far, according to CBS News
(AP) Jamaican police say at least 73 people have died as security forces hunt for a reputed drug lord wanted by the United States.

Deputy Police Chief Glenmore Hinds says all the deaths have occurred as police raided the Tivoli Gardens stronghold of Christopher Coke. Officials previously said that 44 civilians had died.

Information Minister Daryl Vaz said Thursday that officials are trying to identify the victims and that the government will launch independent investigations into all police actions.

Vas has said it is unclear whether Coke is still in Jamaica.

Been hearing that one since this morning, but no one has confirmed.

It is quite strange that they reported about the operation up in the hills, JDF personnel being shot yet the only mention of civilian/guns is the killing of the old man. Either them trying to take him away with little fanfare (process the legal stuff quickly), helping the man escape, or murdering him.

ABC News (and we know how reliable they are) are saying that he is negotiating with the US.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------

U.S. law enforcement officials have put Drug Enforcement Administration Air Wing pilots on alert and planes on standby as they wait out the ongoing discussions between alleged Jamaican drug lord Christopher "Dudus" Coke and the U.S. government -- and wait to see whether Coke will be brought out of hiding in handcuffs or in a body bag.

U.S. law enforcement officials have put Drug Enforcement Administration Air Wing pilots on alert and planes on standby as they wait out the ongoing discussions between alleged Jamaican drug lord Christopher ?Dudus? Coke and the U.S. government -- and wait to see whether Coke will be brought out of hiding in handcuffs or in a body bag.

More PhotosUS Marshals, DEA agents and federal prosecutors are working hand in hand with senior Jamaican military and police officials in an effort to effect a surrender and extradition of Coke, who is wanted on federal drug and firearms charges, to the United States.

At least 60 Jamaicans, including both civilians and security officers, have died since Jamaican authorities began moving in on Coke's barricaded West Kingston neighborhood in an attempt to capture him Monday. The U.S. has wanted to extradite Coke since 2009, but the Jamaican government had resisted until this month.

The violence shows no signs of abating and has spread to adjoining neighborhoods. The police and military effort to curb it now has by some estimates "thousands" of troops on the streets. Jamaican authorities allege that Coke brought in gunmen from other parts of Jamaica and other Caribbean islands to help prevent his capture.

On the Ground Reports from facebook. Most of their info is accurate, however they mistakenly posted a photo of a US troop transport plane a few days ago which gave the impression that the aircraft was in Jamaica, when in fact the aircraft was somewhere in Africa. Also, the soldiers had AK47s, whereas the weapon of choice in the JDF is the M16 or the NATO Belgian ATRs.

I-man, when you said, "and we know how reliable they are" are you emphasizing how reliable they are or are you being sarcastic?

Unconfirmed: Conflicting with other unconfirmed reports that Dudus has been captured in Plantation Heights, the #Jamaica Observer today claims that 'usually credible sources' have informed them that Dudus had earlier accepted the alleged safe passage offer by the US and has already been taken to the US. This also conf...licts with official Jamaican Government statements that he has not been captured.

If the US got him before the JLP I mean the security forces then the race is lost. To find out who is ahead just look at the faces of the cabinet members. If them a bit more upbeat than before safe bet say the President gone.

Soemthing clearly is up. NY Post is also saying his lawyers are negotiating:
Desperate to end the bloodbath on the streets of Kingston from four days of shootouts between Jamaican security forces and supporters of a fugitive drug lord, US officials are negotiating his surrender to face federal cocaine trafficking and gun-running charges in New York, The Post has learned.
The lawyer of accused drug kingpin Christopher "Dudus" Coke has been in contact with US authorities about a voluntary extradition, a source said.
