Building was not yet a police station, it is a house that the JCF/Govt is planning on buying to renovate as a police post and it was empty at the time of the incident and from what we hear, the damage was to the interior, furniture and drapes and was minimal and the building itself was not badly damagaed

      Irrespective.

Find the criminals and vanquish them!!

This is an opportunity for the government to be in command and control.

St James crime boss vows to still set up operations in Montego Hills as thugs bomb police post
BY HORACE HINES Observer West reporter hinesh@jamaicaobserver.com
          Thursday, May 27, 2010

MONTEGO HILLS, St James — In a determined reaction to Tuesday's firebombing of the proposed police post in Montego Hills, Commander for the St James police division, Superintendent Merrick Watson yesteday vowed to continue with the plan to set up operation there within days.
"Within a matter of days it (the facility) will be manned so there is no turning back. It is a done deal it is going to happen. Criminals get used to it and to the people who we are going to serve in this area we will be here with you working with you to reduce the crime in this area. " Watson told the Observer West yesterday during a visit to the scorched facility.

Doors, drapes and a mattress were damaged in the attack, but the quick response of the patrolling police who called in the Fire Brigade, averted further damage.

"The guys came and set fire to a mattress at the bottom section of the building. Some doors were fire-bombed and fire caught the drapes inside, but they were never able to do much damage. Luckily the officers who work this area were not far off so they were able to get here within minutes and get the fire brigade to put out the blaze " Superintendent Watson said.

Watson explained that since Security Minister Senator Dwight Nelson announced the post would be set up in the area last month, hoodlums have threatened to burn it down.

"The fact is that since we expressed an interest in this place we have been getting threats that persons not wanting the police to occupy the space of the criminals would fire-bomb the place and so we have been paying special attention to it.

The reality is this is an ideal location. It allows the police to respond to anyone of these problems areas around the police post within five minutes as opposed to 15, 20 minutes from Freeport Police Station and there is nothing that is going to deter us from it."

... Freeport police on high alert following bomb threat

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Members of the St James police division are now on a very high alert following Tuesday's threat by an anonymous caller to kill one police from the Freeport Police Station in reprisal for each civilian killed during the stand-off between members of the security forces and alleged gunmen in Tivoli Gardens.

" We are on extremely high alert. Naturally as police we have to be on the alert and be aware of our surroundings at all time and so forth but now we don't have the luxury of even relaxing for a moment we have to be on top of the game. (However) The officers for most of the part are doing well," said Commander for the St James police division, Superintendent Merrick Watson.

According to Watson, the police had intelligence that a number of persons have left Montego Bay to join their criminal counterparts in Kingston to launch attacks against the security forces.
