Bill signed Thursday, 06 May 2010 The Casino Bill has been signed into law.

Speculation had been rife that the Bill had been left in limbo as it was not signed by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen due to his religious faith.

However Information Minister Daryl Vaz told journalists at Wednesday morning's post cabinet briefing at Jamaica House the bill has been signed.

He however noted that a typographical error was found after the document was signed and it is now being corrected at the Government Printing Office.

The signing of the Bill follows its passage in both houses of Parliament last month.

As a result, the way is now clear for the establishment of the Casino Commission and the crafting and implementation of appropriate regulations.

It is expected that a Commissioner and members of the Casino Gaming Commission will be done as soon as notice is given by Finance Minister Audley Shaw.

Well, a senior statesman on this very forum said on September 8th 2007 that he cannot afford to see this government succeed. I'm of the impression he wasn't the only one with that attitude.

                    Is this an opposition statesmen?
Don't they realise that this only leaves a bigger mess for them when they get back into power? Whether that is in 5 years, 10 years or 20, the more they obstruct the government of the day, the more they have to do when they form a government.

You would think they would enjoy not having to deal with the huge issues jamaica faces (not that they dealt with it whilst in governement). Whether the JLP fails or succeeds, the PNP are going to form a government again some time in the future, why do they want a bigger job when that time comes? Where does this short sightness come from?

                      heh heh!

The funny thing is, Lazie and Maudib will tell you that they are not like that! And that it is people like Mosiah, Rudi, Don1 and whomever else they feel are not showa supporters who feel that way.

Personally, I would like for this govt. to succeed. Can we really put up with 2 more years of wanton bloodshed? Bring murders down to still the ridiculous number of 800 per year and they would have succeeded in my book.
