Well, in theory if it affects everybody in the industry equally, then they would all make the necessary adjustments and in the end the consumers pay for the increased cost, correct?
Ok, so the industry may lose a few customers if the cost of a chicken sandwich goes up , but this is why I say it is not a free lunch (no pun intended) Somewhere along the line it has to be paid for through increased cost or increased taxes, or both.
One of the keys to the long-term success of this bill will be how much attention is paid to fixing inefficiency and fraud. If they can get some good success there we may be surprised how much of a difference it makes to cost estimates. Some estimates say that 25-30% of medicare/medicaid claims are fraud. Can you imagine if they can make a dent in that, even half it?
