Writer, herbalist Buckston Harrison found dead

SHEFFIELD, Westmoreland -- Buckston Harrison -- the popular herbalist whose weekly health column in the Observer West attracted a global fan base -- was yesterday found dead at his home in Sheffield, Westmoreland.
Harrison, 52, was found with his throat slashed.

The gruesome find was made by Harrison's father Winston and a female employee.
According to Harrison senior, he went to visit his son at his residence, which also houses his herbal business, about 9:00 am. He said he did not see him although the door was open.
On returning with the female employee about 1:00 pm, they heard the sound of running water in the bathroom. On entering they came upon Harrison's bloody body, clad in a pair of shorts and sprawled between a passageway and his bedroom with several stab wounds. A towel lay close by.
Up to late yesterday, the police were still searching for a man believed to have driven off in Harrison's minibus which he used for his herbal business.
A senior police source told the Observer that there were no signs of forced entry to the house, although ransacked furniture inside the bedroom suggested that Harrison struggled with his attacker before being overpowered.
Yesterday, scores of shocked onlookers converged outside the home of the popular herbalist as the news of his grisly death spread around the parish.
