  • Official launch of Caribbean Aerospace College

The Caribbean Aerospace College will today officially launch its operations in Jamaica.
The college will for the first time in Jamaica grant licenses to certain specialists in the aviation industry, such as flight dispatchers, as well as offer a degree programme in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
The launch will take place at the college’s Dumfries Road Headquarters in Kingston.
Caribbean Aerospace College began operation in October, 2009 with 12 students, five of whom will graduate today, having completed the 300 hours required for a flight dispatcher certification.
A flight dispatcher is an individual responsible for planning and monitoring the progress of an aircraft'’s journey.
Project Manager Meredith Hypolite-Derby, says the objective of the college is to train aviation experts to perform according to the international civil aviation organisation standards.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
