  • Hail Jangle & other AI fans

The top 12 is here and last night was the first sing-off. Two of my pre-favourites from the top 24 did not survive the cut. Both Jermaine Sellers and Todrick Hall, though quite excellent singers in their own rights, did not have the the right attitude nor the fortitude to adjust to what the competition required for survival.

Hall put too much action (read over-do) in his performances, while Sellers was bent on showing off too much range while singing. There were the usual constructive criticisms from the judges but neither singer heeded and thus paid the penalty.

So last night saw each member of the top 12 selecting and performing a song from the Rolling Stones songbook. In my estimation they all did well; now it's down to America's selection. In less than 2 hours we will see where the American fans wanna go!

The top three performers - for me- were: Siobhan Magnus, Crystal "Mama sox" Bowersox and Casey James. Of course they are my three remaining pre-favourites.

The middle six would be: Michael Lynche, Lee Dewyze, Aaron Kelly, Paige Miles, Katie Stevens and Didi Benami.

Bottom three will likely be: Andrew Garcia, Lacey Brown and Tim Urban.

The Judges think Tim Urban was a mess following his Reggae spin on The Rolling Stones. I think the AI voting fans will call it differently!

My prediction: Andrew Garcia will be sent packing.

bwoy still this group is not very good. They may have decent voices but their arrangement skills and working with the band lack experience. Most don't even understand what they want to achieve.

The top three are way above the rest and the big youth has improved leaps and bound.

Bowersox and Lee Dewyze seem to know what music they want to sing. The others are still searching for their niche.

Siobhan Magnus will do good as a pop or rock artiste. Michael Lynche should stick with R&B.

Well well...Andrew Garcia was as safe as a bulla inna glass case!

The bottom three were: Paige Miles, Tim Urban and Lacey Brown. Paige and Tim will make it back for at least another week. Lacey Brown did her swan song and departed the train.
