Mas Camp rolled with Alison Hinds

    Monday, March 15, 2010

With a potent voice and a high-energy show, Caribbean Queen of Soca, Alison Hinds had Bacchanal Jamaica's Mas Camp 'rolling' in an exhilarated frenzy last Friday.

Coming out in high numbers with flags ready to wave, guests who arrived early were treated to the musical stylings of DJ Bambino, DJ Smoke of Renaissance and Sparkles Productions.

    The conga line begins here.

We just play the music that people want to hear and everything will be alright," said DJ Bambino as the crowd soaked in the music.

Stepping onstage in a figure-hugging, sequined body suit Hinds caught everyone's attention as she began to belt out tunes such as Soca In My Body, Aye Aye Aye and Faluma, to name a few.

Known as a wining expert, Hinds decided to test the local wining talent by inviting two gents from the audience onstage to display their skills. In true form both took turns dancing with the Queen of Soca, for which an energised Hinds had to admit to the crowd, "Boy Jamaican man can wine."
Hinds then performed her most popular hit Roll It Gyal and had Mas Campers rolling in sync with her melody.

Noting that she was in Jamaica, she also sang her recordings with Jah Cure and Richie Spice, and couldn't help but perform 2010 breakaway hit, Palance.

After her set was concluded a beaming Alison said, "The energy was and always is fantastic with the bacchanal crowd. Sometimes it's hard to believe that I am in Jamaica the land of reggae, the people here really know and love their soca." (Can anyone spot Mosiahin the crowd )
