  • Cop murdered in Portmore

The police have identified the cop whose was body was found in a car in Portmore this morning.

The body is that of 29-year-old Corporal Miguel Cuff of the Police Statistic Branch.

The constable’s body was found with several gunshot wounds in the community of Southborough around 4 a.m.

It’s reported that his hands were bound.

The police believe Corporal Cuff was killed elsewhere and his body brought to Southborough.

Corporal Cuff who joined the Constabulary in 2001, is the third policeman to be killed since the start of the year.

In the meantime, the national security minister Senator Dwight Nelson has described the abduction and killing of Corporal Cuff as a particularly callous assault on an agent of the state.

He is also reporting that the policeman’s house was set on fire before he was taken out and killed.

Senator Nelson says this reflects an orchestrated attack on the policeman.

He believes the nature of this act suggests that criminals are getting bolder and more cruel.

Senator Nelson is calling for the residents of Newlands in St. Catherine where the policeman lived to be bold in speaking out.

He says residents must deal decisively to uproot criminal elements to ensure that their community is safe.

I hope he was not being silenced as a result of the Elleston Road armoury fiasco?
