    Speaking at the Press Association of <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue! important; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Arial; POSITION: relative">Jamaica's</SPAN> 63rd annual awards she said members of the media should make increased effort to dig deeper for the facts and report in a truthful and unbiased manner.

    She said this standard should also be adopted by younger media practitioners.

    RJR's Dionne Jackson-Miller walked away with the night's biggest award, Journalist of The Year.

    TVJ reporter Kirk Wright coped the Theodore Sealy/Hector Bernard Award for his story "Jubilee in Crisis."

    The Jamaica Observer's Senior <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue! important; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana,Arial; POSITION: relative">photographer</SPAN> Michael Gordon walked away with the award for excellence in photography with his controversial picture of the Prime Minister sketching in Parliament.

    <SPAN>In the meantime President of the Press Association of Jamaica, <SPAN id="clicksor_sp_desmond richards" &#111;nmouseover='return ClxLaD("desmond richards",event)' &#111;nmouseout='ClxTMo("desmond richards")'>Desmond Richards</SPAN> is again urging the government to make radical changes to libel and defamation laws. </SPAN>
