Granville Valentine, Vice President of the National Workers Union (NWU), is refusing to withdraw a threat of protest action by employees of Air Jamaica despite a call from the Minister of Finance for industrial harmony at the airline.
st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }On Wednesday Finance Minister Audley called for good sense to prevail and urged trade union officials not to encourage worker unrest which could destablise Air Jamaica ahead of its divestment.
However, a defiant, Granville Valentine says the NWU will not sit idly by and allow the Government to take any action which is not in the best interest of Air Jamaica workers.
"I don't worry about any threats or any bullying (because) whatever the trade unions need to do to bring about justice for the working class and the people of this country will happen if needs be. Nobody can turn that back, it's been happening from inception and there are still some of us who are not cowards," he said.
