VICE-CHANCELLOR Emeritus at the University of the West Indies, Professor Rex Nettleford, remains in critical condition in the George Washington Hospital in the United States.
Nettleford, 76, suffered a heart attack last Wednesday and was unconscious for several days.
It was not clear whether the professor had regained consciousness but a release from the university said his condition was being managed by a team of overseas-based medical experts.
"The chancellor, Sir George Alleyne, and the vice-chancellor, Professor E Nigel Harris, who are both medical doctors, are in consultation with the medical team attending to Professor Nettleford," the release said.
Nettleford was on a visit to the United States to participate in a fund-raising gala for the university.
