PM outlines investment plans for 2010

Mr. Golding has outlined several initiatives which form part of the government’s investment plans for this year.
In a broadcast to the nation last night, Mr. Golding said at least one bauxite plant is expected to be reopened.
Additionally, tenders for the financing of the new Liquid Natural Gas facility are expected by the middle of next month.
The Harmony Cove project which involves several billion US dollars of new investment is expected to move into high gear and the casino gaming legislation concluded.
Mr. Golding also expressed optimism for renewed investor confidence in the country’s economy.
He has assigned the Minister with responsibility for Information, Daryl Vaz to expedite the process of development applications, and to ensure that all projects awaiting approval are dealt with in the next 30 days.
In addition, the Prime Minister said his special advisor, Chris Zacca, has been assigned to help those businesses that may be encountering difficulties with government bureaucracy or regulation.
Mr. Golding is expected to travel to China in another three weeks to conclude agreements on a number of projects which he says should have a significant impact on the economy.
He is also slated to visit the Gulf States later this year for high-level discussions on a number of major investments being pursued by the government.
