  • NDM says the gov't should resign and call fresh elections.

The National Democratic Movement (NDM) has now joined the parliamentary opposition in its criticism of the latest tax package announced by the Bruce Golding led government.

NDM Chairman, Peter Townsend said the group is upset that the government decided against taxing the rich and has instead announced measures to further oppress the poor.

He is also questioning the government’s credibility.

The NDM views the GCT to be being imposed on electricity and gas as double taxation and has described it as stupid, harsh and uncaring.

The NDM has demanded that the government resigns and call fresh elections.

I heard this chap in an interview saying the PM doesn't have the will to make the necessary decisions. Now it is made, dem upset.

Wait, rich people naah guh pay taxes on all the items like everybody else? Rich people nuh use tampons? Dem nuh use electricity? Dem nuh buy gas? I think that argument is tired now. Portia already squeezed it dry.

As for the tax on interest on gov't bonds. It sounds good, but seeing that Dr. Davies didn't tax it then, I'm curious about the implications. But who do we listen to? People (financial analysts) in Omar's corner say one thing, analysts on the gov't side sey the opposite. Pity.
