  • "Zeeks" files appeal

Lawyers representing former Matthews Lane strongman, Donald "Zeeks" Phipps, will be going to Court Monday to apply for bail pending his appeal against his 2006 murder conviction.

st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }"Zeeks" is serving life behind bars following his conviction for the murder of two men.

However, his attorneys want him released on bail pending the outcome of his appeal.

Phipps was found guilty and sentenced to life for the 2005 murders of Rodney Farquharson and Dayton Williams.

Both men were beaten, tortured and shot in Matthews Lane and their bodies burnt in an open lot in downtown, Kingston.

Phipps will have to serve 30 years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.

However, he has asked the Appeal Court to quash the conviction and sentence.

He claims that his trial was unfair and amounted to an abuse of the process of the court and a violation of his constitutional rights.

Phipps further argues that the judge erred in admitting hearsay evidence at the trial.

If this goes to the Privy Council, he'll probably be set free, given our joke of a justice system. He could still be guilty as hell, but so much could have gone wrong with this.
