New G2K President on the horizon
Saturday, 07 November 2009
Preparations are underway for Sunday's Annual General Meeting and Election of Officers for the young professional arm of the Jamaica Labour Party, the G2K (Generation 2000).
Senator Warren Newby will be stepping down as G2K President.
Seven nominees are running for the four Vice President and Presidential posts.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding will be making an address as the main speaker at party headquarters at Belmont Road. We're hosting a delegation from a youth arm of the Republican Party of the UnitedStates and we'll be making our first transition over the past three years from President Newby to a new President.
"It promises to be an excited day as this major transition unfolds with Senator Newby who has served the organization at the executive level for the last for 10 years, demitting office as president. We're looking forward to what the new administration has to offer," said Colin Virgo, G2K General Secretary as he gave an update preview of Sunday's agenda.
He was tight lipped about some the issues that the Prime Minister will talk about when he addresses the meeting.
"I know that the Prime Minister is keen to have us redirect and refocus our energy into particular areas and I know he will be speaking about some of those issues," Mr Virgo said.
