Former finance minister Dr Omar Davies says he is reconsidering whether to continue to give further help to the Government in certain areas.
His consideration follows the development involving the controversial employment contract of dismissed Central Bank Governor Derrick Latibeaudiere.
Based on the terms of his contract Derick Latibeaudiere was earning $38 million a year plus perks.
The Bruce Golding led Government is blaming Dr Davies for sanctioning that agreement back in May 2007.
However Dr Davies said the Government has failed to recognize that the Governor’s contract was not new since other Governors enjoyed similar benefits.
It’s for this and other reasons that the former minister believes the Government is trying to attack him.
Dr Davies said it has become necessary for him to take a new approach to his relationship with the Government.
However in taking this new approach, Dr Davies runs the risk of neglecting his duty as the opposition spokesman on finance.
As spokesman Dr Davies is responsible for monitoring the government and holding it accountable to making decisions, which are in the best interest of the country.
In the meantime the Opposition has called a press conference for tomorrow at 10 a.m. to discuss the firing of the Central Bank Governor.
