  • Buju Banton Syndrome (BBS):

Buju Banton Syndrome is wide spread in Jamaica. This syndrome is characterized by gross ignorance towards the alternative lifestyle.

The disease has infected the Jamaican illiterate as well as the educated.

BBS has prevented lots of Jamaicans from making economic progress. In the entertainment arena--Shabba Ranks and the person whose name this malady was coined...comes immediately to mind.

I was quite amused to see the humiliating look on Buju's face--among the gays . He is just realizing that MONEY talks and Bull Shyte walks. Good for him!!

It's the folks on the sideline line who have the most chat.

Those with the syndrome think Buju "rong fe bow". That if it wuz them--them nah sidung wid no gay people. These sideliners can onlysee things through the Jamaican universe.........

There is a far-reaching lesson that can be learned from the Buju Banton Syndrome experience. The most important of which is: if Jamaica continues in it's backward attitude towards people who have different sexual preferences--then be prepared to suffer the economic consequences. And this is not limited to dance hall entertainers. The foreign executive that prime minister Bruce Golding is in talks with-- to obtain 'help' could be gay. The prime ministers' attitude too can place limits on the country.
The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough

The fact is the Buju Banton saga is one to learn and grow from. Before the gays came down on this song it was sung by most Jamaicans inside Jamaica and overseas.

It was a mainstay at every party, and was climbing the billboard charts when the gays started to protest. Others like Shabba jumped right in the fray and took the leadership and it cost them as Buju had a decent management team around him who realise what was happening and defended their artists and actually apologise.

that tune actually resulted in Buju doing positive records and less personal ones. Since then Buju has not been on a "******************** man" crusade, and that record maybe about 20 years old now.

When Sinead Occonnor came on Saturday Night live and tore up the Pope picture as a symbol of her hate, her career took a nose dive but she has been able to live and work without any hounding. The fact is you will not go to Buju show and hear that anthem.

Because of the lack of guidance and agents in the music business many of these youngsters will make mistakes but the question is will they grow from it like Buju and Anthony B has? Some of their best work has been after their controversy and to be constantly touring the world and not just New York and Florida, there has to be some growing experience.

It shouldn't be so alarming that Buju has song that song since most Jamaicans used to call people "******************** m@n even when thy are not gay, and how many of us said "them bwoy deh a ******************** bwoy" as an insult to none gay people.

The fact is Buju has learned his lesson a long time ago but our what of the others who see him as sell out and an audience who will lose respect for him for at least meeting with the people and have a dialogue?
    • Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

Interesting. It would seem that according to the gays Obama suffers from the same syndrome. Homosexuality is illegal in Jamaica methinks the Gays know who them have strength for.
