As the Bruce Golding administration prepares to cut public sector jobs, it has managed to keep a tight grip on the wage bill.
New figures from the Ministry of Finance have revealed that the public sector wage bill has been less than projected.
Between April and August, $53.4 billion was spent on wage and salaries for Government workers.
This was $481 million less than what the Finance Ministry had planned to spend during the period.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding last week announced plans to cut jobs in the public sector as his administration moves to reduce expenditure as a result of a fall off in revenues.
