A group of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters carried out their threat on Wednesday morning to protest against the decision by the party to retain Dr. St. Aubyn Bartlett as the its representative in Eastern St. Andrew.
The protesters gathered just outside the new U.S. embassy building in Liguenea bearing placards.
A man claiming to be a JLP delegate told RJR news that with Dr. Bartlett the party will not retain the Eastern St. Andrew seat.
When contacted by RJR news Dr. Bartlett said he was not yet prepared to make a public statement as he was gathering information on the matter.
For several weeks, the JLP has been under pressure to replace Dr. Bartlett as some of the party’s supporters say they are dissatisfied with the quality of the representation being provided by him.
However on Monday, news came that the party had decided to stick with the man who took the seat from the PNP's Colin Campbell in the 2002 General Election.
And in a swift reaction to the protest, Jamaica Labour Party General Secretary Karl Samuda insisted that the problem facing the Constituency is a challenge.
Mr. Samuda says there is a need for more dialogue with the disgruntled JLP supporters and remains confident that the problem will be resolved amicably.
Mr. Samuda says no date has yet been set for the meeting with the JLP supporters.
