Facing his stiffest challenges to date, Prime Minister Bruce Golding enters a third year in office with the reins of power less firmly in his grasp than at any time since he took the oath of office on September 11, 2007.
As of now there is no danger the reins will slip through his fingers, but the prospects of his Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) retaining power after 2012 will depend largely on how quickly the economy rebounds and how the prime minister handles the request by the United States for the extradition of his most prominent constituent Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
