The People's National Party is again calling for Prime Minister Bruce Golding to desist from making comments which could inflame the fragile industrial relations climate that exists in the country.
The Opposition's call comes against the background of Mr. Golding chastising public sector workers for insisting that their wage agreement with the Government be honoured.
In a statement Thursday, Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller said she viewed the Prime Minister's comparison of the salaries of senior police officer with that of a Cabinet Minister as most unfortunate given that public sector employees have no control over their salaries.
The Opposition is also asking the Prime Minister to clarify the Government's position on public sector job security.
Having initially said there would be no job cuts, the Prime Minister has now said that this only applies for this fiscal year.
Mrs. Simpson Miller said if job cuts are going to take place in the next financial year, the country should be told and workers be allowed to prepare for this eventuality.
