Massive big up to Jamaica College and it's flight program

The Jamaica Combined Cadet Force had been producing pilots for years using a Cessna 150 (6Y JJK) that was donated by Air Jamaica. At one stage the JDF had more aircraft that pilots and guaranteed cadets entry directly into the Air Wing provided that pass the medical. The plane crashed and the JCCF Air Section is grounded. Someone needs to get it going again.

What's the big deal...why to 4th and 5th formers? Let them do their BASIC CXE first...too much hype.

It's not presented as a panacea...just another career option for kids.
It's innovative to offer this at the secondary level...that innovation is the big deal.

Generally our education system needs to be reformed to make it more relevant... this is a baby step in the direction of a vocational approach to the mainly academic nature of secondary education.

In Jamaica, education needs reform. Education needs to become more relevant to the marketplace. Kids need to be motivated in school to work. Schools need to innovate to inspire kids...also teachers.

Projects like the aviation program are brilliant in trying to achieve all of these objectives.

Robotics drive: 1. Math & Software skills 2. Engineering skills 2. Bio mechanical skills 4. Teamwork 5. Innovation & excitement about science

It's not about where students are right now...it's how to drive them forward.

JC is not currently where it wants to be but has an aggressive plan and dynamic leadership...and is on a solid rebuilding and growth path....all elements instructive for the nation.

Such projects are perfect for JC and an outstanding example for others to follow... no doubts others will follow in their own way and maybe do better...that is great.

In our 200+ years of history this is just another milestone marking leadership.

Wi used to dat..jus as we used to bad mind from the penny section.
