The thing is that, the big Rice growing countries are hold back exports, to meet domestic needs.

Some people thing rice growing started in Jamaica during the 70's of Michael manley, rice was grown in Hanover, Westmoreland, St Bess and Clarendon in the 40's & 50's, and I have come across info that south Clarendon was growing rice in the 20's.
