JFJ wins judicial review of DPP's Janice Allen ruling

    Friday, July 24, 2009
Human rights group Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) yesterday successfully applied for a judicial review of a ruling made by Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn in the April 2000 fatal shooting of 13-year-old Janice Allen by police in Kingston.
The review will start on September 30.
The ruling was hailed as a significant victory by executive director of JFJ, Carolyn Gomes, who had hit out against Llewellyn's decision.
"We are very happy and glad that we will be able to argue the matter in court," Gomes told the Observer.
The news also brought a measure of joy to the child's mother, Millicent Forbes.

Yes, but Paula made a ruling on the matter recently. It is her ruling that will now be scrutinised.

          Not so?
