    Published: Thursday | June 25, 2009

    WESTERN BUREAU:

The motor vehicle belonging to missing Montego Bay couple, Thomas and Marjoke Chambers, was reportedly recovered in the Drewsland area of Kingston on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gleaner understands that the vehicle - a red Nissan Expert - was in the process of being scrapped by persons when police on patrol made the discovery.

"Two men are in custody in relation to the scrapping of the vehicle. There is no immediate evidence that they are linked to the disappearance of the couple, but they are being further questioned," a highly placed police source disclosed.

"A detailed forensic examination is also being conducted on the vehicle."

    Missing since june 12

Sixty-three-year-old Thomas Chambers and his wife Marjoke, 61, of Spot Valley, St James, have been reported missing from their home since June 12.

Police say the couple left home for an undisclosed destination in their Nissan Expert about 5 p.m. on the day in question, and have not been seen or heard from since. Efforts to contact them have proven futile.

Their mode of dress is unknown.

The couple are Caucasian and each of stout build. Chambers is about 173 centimetres tall while his wife is about 168 cm tall.

Chambers is a well-known real estate developer in western Jamaica, and ran on the People's National Party ticket in the 2007 local government election in his bid to represent the St James Parish Council's Salt Spring division.

Yow, people involved with the scrapping of vehicles associated in some criminal act should be held liable for something and the punishment should be SEVERE! When are we going to get serious? If wi have to build more prisons, hey, that's what I do!!!

These are people that I have been to their homes and eaten off their table, have known them for over 30 years and while my head is telling me they are long dead I refuse to give up hope

Crime plan? Jamaica has had more crime plans than criminals.

On the wrong track just like the previous regime .... crime plans are not the solution.... just a band aid.
