THE CEO of the Bellevue Hospital was sent on leave yesterday, pending investigation into what the South East Regional Health Authority called a series of 'inappropriate' correspondence by various employees and inmates.
"The appropriate actions will be taken once the review is complete," the regional health authority said in a statement yesterday.
"The parish manager for the Kingston and St Andrew Health Services will assume direct responsibility for the management of the hospital with immediate effect," the statement said.
The action of the health authority followed unrest by the staff at the hospital yesterday morning.
Staff decided to end their unrest following a meeting with the management team of the South East Regional Health Authority, staff and union representatives.
