THE Ministry of Education has ordered the closure of all schools in Manchester, after two cases of Influenza A H1N1, or 'swine flu' were detected in two students.
All graduation functions for schools in the parish are to be cancelled, said the ministry in a statement today.
The New Roads Primary School in Westmoreland has also been closed amid concerns about a possible influenza outbreak at the institution - no cases have been confirmed there as yet.
The ministry said that continuous assessment data would be used where the closure affects students' end of year examinations.
Students showing flu-like symptoms must be mmediately quarantined before being removed from a school, added the ministry. Schools will have to report each case directly to the ministry as well as the relevant health authorities.
