The authorities are preparing to intensify their clampdown on tax dodgers.
The Tax Administration and Services Department has issued another warning to delinquent persons as it moves to collect billions of dollars in arrears.
Director of Public Relations, Meris Haughton, says revenue agents now have several tax evaders under the microscope.
"Tax is everybody's business and we are encouraging everybody who has outstanding taxes to pay these outstanding amounts. Persons who are having difficulties we are encouraging them to seek out the collections commissioner to make some arrangements. We do accommodate arrangements for people to clear whatever outstanding balances they have,
"We are encouraging persons not to stay out of the loop but to come forward and make necessary arrangements that need to be made to clear their liabilities," Ms. Haughton said.
The Department has adopted a zero tolerance approach to individuals who have ignored warnings to become compliant.
Last Thursday a team of revenue agents attempted to close the popular diner, Cuddyz, in New Kingston after the entity was cited for failing to pay over millions of dollars in taxes.
It was spared from closure after the proprietors agreed to make arrangements to clear some of the arrears.
