  • Cops charged for missing men

An Assistant Superintendent of Police and two Corporals have been formally charged in connection with the murder of two men who were abducted from a plaza on Washington Boulevard in St. Andrew four years ago.

st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }On Wednesday night, charges were laid against the three cops following extensive investigation and consultation with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Corporal Paul Edwards and Corporal Louie Lynch have been charged with the murder of Kemar Walters and Oliver Duncan.

They have also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Assistant Superintendent Victor Barrett has been charged with being an accessory after the fact and perverting the course of justice.

All three are booked to appear in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrates Court Thursday morning.

A statement from the Office of the Commissioner of Police said a fourth policeman held in connection with the men's disappearance has not been charged but investigations are being carried out to determine his involvement.

Mr. Walters and Mr. Duncan were conducting business at a plaza on Washington Boulevard when they were reportedly taken away by members of the Organised Crime Investigations Division.

A Honda CRV motor vehicle which was being driven by Mr. Duncan was later found burnt along the Port Royal main road.
