JAMAICA today issued a warning to Caricom, saying that the country's business manufacturers and exporters have had enough of what they say is Trinidad unfairly restricting access to its market.
Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce Karl Samuda said that trade between Caricom member countries would be up for discussion at next month's heads of government meeting of the regional body.
"Enough was enough," said Samuda at a press conference today. "Jamaica will not roll up and play dead."
Government earlier this week welcomed the clearance of a shipment of Jamaican beef patties following its intervention with Trinidadian authorities.
This followed several weeks of consultations, including at the highest levels, between the two governments on the matter of the importation of Jamaican patties into Trinidad.
