  • Anedda ting on those independent hotels

While some of dem tend to be more affordable than their global linked counterparts, they offer weekly rental units to locals and that is not a good mix with foreign visitors. I had planned to stay in one recently, but dem gats too much bad reviews from tripadvisor and so plans changed in a heartbeat.

    Interesting point.

The name of the game in Jamaica’s competitive tourism arena today is survival, and so I suspect that the small hotels, which cannot afford the cost of advertising themselves internationally on the level that the big hotels can, are therefore forced to encourage local occupancy in order to remain open.
