Contractor general lauds 100% public sector compliance rate

FOR the first time, ever, all 191 public sector procurement bodies have complied in submitting their quarterly contract award (QCA) reports on time, says the Office of the Contractor General (OCG).

All met the deadline of May 1, under the OCG's zero tolerance policy which was introduced in 2006 when compliance ran at 13 per cent.

In a statement today Contractor General Greg Christie commended the public sector for its newfound performance.

“I am extremely grateful to the country’s senior public servants. They have diligently supported the sustained efforts of the OCG to bring a new and unprecedented level of discipline and accountability to the Government procurement process. I trust that they will be assured of our appreciation since we will continue to rely upon them to ensure that the OCG, itself, complies with its own responsibilities under the law," said Christie.

Some 26,500 Government contracts, ranging from $250,000 to $10 million in value, and totaling more than $27.7 billion, can be freely scrutinised by any member of the public. Particulars regarding recommendations for the award of Government contracts which have been endorsed by the National Contracts Commission, and which value in excess of $4 million, are also available on the OCG website: www.ocg.gov.jm
