A strip club that is opened in the days on Portmore's 'Back Road' has caused an outcry among some members of the community.
The Erotic Nightclub, is located on Port Henderson Road more commonly called 'Back Road'. It operates from in the afternoon until late at nights.
According to Wayne, one of the owners of the club, the daytime go-go club was opened six months ago after he and two other friends decided to upgrade from a regular bar to an entertainment venue.
"Normally we had a bar here in the days but we decided that why not give them some entertainment while here," Wayne said.
The decision to provide pleasure for some of Portmore's hedonists is causing concern for other residents.
"I've heard about it because it has been raised in the council meetings. In terms of the club operations, I have asked the police to look into the matter because it's not something we here at the <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: blue! important; BORDER-BOTTOM: blue 1px solid; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent">municipality</SPAN> condone," said Portmore Mayor, George Lee.
Wayne has however defended the club's reputation.
"We're not doing anything illegal here. The club has been open all this time and police have come here, looked and have seen that everyone here is an adult. We are not breaking any laws," said Wayne.
The decision to provide daytime 'flesh entertainment' has also drawn the wrath of the <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: blue! important; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">church</SPAN>.
"We believe that society is made of both good and evil. But although evil exists, people should not engage themselves or practise things debasing to mankind. We believe there are better forms of entertainment and better ways to make money," said Bishop Delford Davis, Pastor of Power of Faith <SPAN class=kLink style="FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: blue! important; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; POSITION: relative">Ministries</SPAN> in Portmore.
THE WEEKEND STAR visited the club on two occasions to find out about the activities that took place there. The club advertised an 11:00 a.m opening time, but on both occasions, activities did not begin until later in the afternoon.
