  • ISCF taking Gov’t to court next week

The Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) is carrying out its threat to take the Government to court over a breach of the 2008/2010 wage and fringe benefits agreement.

ISCF Chairman Special Sergeant St. George Jackson says the group has received legal advice on the matter and will next week, go to court in a bid to force the Government to honour its contractual wage obligations.
"Within the next week, we expect that that will be concluded in terms of filing. We want to see the merit of the agreement that we signed, the obligatory aspect to it to the parties that signed it, and whether it, on its own, is lawful and binding," he said.

The ISCF will be represented by attorney Christopher Townsend who told RJR News that he will be seeking a declaration from the Supreme Court.
The Association represents 1,570 members of the rank and file personnel in the Island Special Constabulary Force.

On Tuesday, ISCF members voted in favor of seeking legal counsel rather than taking industrial action against the Government over its decision to impose a wage freeze on public sector workers.
The Government has signalled that it is ready to do battle with the cops if they drag the matter to court.
