CONTRACTOR GENERAL Greg Christie says that he has uncovered attempts to corrupt his office and has taken action, including terminating three staff members who failed to report to him an allegation of attempted bribery.
In a statement today Christie said that a former employee of the Office of the Contractor General had allegedly been paid to complete application documents on behalf of a contractor. That employee was asked to resign last year following allegations of corruption.
He added that during that investigation another contractor was found to have offered a $75,000 bribe to an OCG employee. However when the employee reported the matter to three senior staff no action was taken, which led to their contracts being terminated and the commencement of a police investigation.
