THE Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reporting that major crimes - ranging from murder to larceny - rose 33 per cent during March compared to the same month in 2008.
Rape rose 12 per cent; carnal abuse, 47 per cent; robbery, 40 per cent; breaking, 83 per cent and larceny, 83 per cent.
However murders and shootings fell by 7 and 5 per cent respectively.
The number of murders for the first quarter has reached 345, compared to 370 during the same period in 2008 and 368 and 2007.
