John Maxwell, journalist par excellence

I have long wanted to declare my admiration of Mr John Maxwell for his public positions on issues of national interest, especially the insanely reckless degradation of the physical environment of our oh so beautiful island. So much of his thinking and posture resonates with me. Wish that I were young again and could grow up to be like him.
Not wanting to appear presumptuous, and being uncertain as to how Mr Maxwell would receive them, I have been reluctant to advertise these sentiments. But reading his piece in the Sunday Observer of March 22 relaxed my restraint. Our country owes him an enormous debt of gratitude which, unfortunately, has not been repaid in ways that would make our lives better as human beings or in terms of responsible social and economic development. If this has not yet been done, his thoughts and advocacy on how we ought to see ourselves and the development of our country should be compiled and published to inspire a more responsive new generation of Jamaicans, and indeed, those everywhere with historical and contemporary experiences like our own.
