THE police are claiming success in cracking crime and violence. Statistics released by the police indicate that 19 illegal firearms were seized and 44 persons wanted for various crimes arrested in the month of March.

The police say that 11 of the persons arrested were on their wanted list, and that six home-made firearms were included in their weapons haul.

The success comes from a total of 725 police activities including raids, surges, vehicle check points and searches carried out in the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew, St Catherine and St James.
