  • Interesting! - That by-election

    That by-election
    Monday, March 30, 2009

Well, the by-election has come and gone. The one thing we are certain of is that in politics, sometimes the smoke is greater than the fire. For this reason, I was not surprised by the Jamaica Labour Party's impressive victory in the recently held West Portland by-election. This is not to detract from the substance of the achievement earned by the member of parliament-designate Daryl Vaz, nor is it intended to diminish the excellent organisational skills of campaign manager Robert Montague. In fact, the JLP deserves kudos for putting together a superb ground organisation that clearly surpassed the once elusive magical prowess of the People's National Party.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

"Furthermore, Mr Vaz has proved to be far more than just the irascible and belligerent political neophyte his opponents branded him. But how could they have underestimated the son of a former politician with such recklessness? His win signifies that it is men such as he (with a little "sandpapering") that the people need as their political representatives - men and women who understand the plight of their constituents and who are prepared to do something on their behalf to improve their circumstances."

    Irascible and Belligerent ?

How him leave out 'Reprobate' ?

    LOL !

Look like di people of West Portland nuh read di forum... or mebbe dem nuh like di DON ting..

    LOL !

          quote for Mosiah

"The PNP cannot be serious about wanting to regain state power when it so flagrantly and foolishly elects to sacrifice the people's agenda on the altar of one by-election. Well, voters in West Portland might have done the PNP a huge favour that it will come to appreciate one day. The lesson is that voters are as pragmatic as they are smart; they know that change does not mean progress and progress is what they are about in their constituency, however feeble, or unfavourably analysed by the political foe."
