THE Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) expects to have at least seven mobile police stations hit the road this year.
This, according to Commissioner of Police, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, who said that the JCF would be taking the police to the communities as part of efforts to drive the community policing initiative.
“Ideally we would want to have several in every parish but it will not happen this year,” he said at a public forum hosted by the Police (Civilian Oversight) Authority (PCOA) recently at the St. Gabriel's Anglican Church Hall in May Pen, Clarendon.
The public forum, which was a return engagement to the parish by the PCOA, was held under the theme, 'Transforming the Jamaica Constabulary Force to a Police Service that is Responsive to Community Needs'.
The PCOA was established in 2005 to ensure accountability, adherence to policy guidelines and observation of proper policing standards in Jamaica.
