PNP select Rowe to fight by-election

Former Generation 2000 Vice-President, Kenneth Rowe has been selected to run against the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Daryl Vaz in the West Portland by-election on March 23.
Last night, Julian Robinson, the deputy general secretary of the People’s National Party (PNP), confirmed that Rowe would be the party’s candidate.
Rowe’s candidacy is expected to be officially announced after a meeting of the party’s executive this evening.

He’s a former JLP candidate who lost by 281 votes to Errol Ennis in the 2002 general election, but remained the caretaker for the constituency.
Rowe later switched allegiance to the PNP after Vaz was elected to represent the JLP in the 2007 general election.
PNP Deputy General Secretary Julian Robinson told the Gleaner/ Power 106 news team that the party’s chances are even stronger with the selection of Rowe as its candidate.

The court of appeal ousted the Jamaica Labour Party’s candidate Daryl Vaz as Member of Parliament on Friday, when it upheld a ruling that Vaz was not eligible to sit in Parliament.
The Court made the ruling on the basis that the former Member of Parliament had pledged allegiance to a foreign power.

Following the ruling, Prime Minister Bruce Golding declared Friday March 6 Nomination Day and March 23 as the day for the by-election.
In a statement issued late last night, the PNP said the former West Portland candidate, Abe Dabdoub will play an active role in the by-election campaign. Mr. Dabdoub who was defeated in the 2007 poll has been appointed chief campaign advisor to the new candidate.
The party has also acknowledged the work done by Dabdoub in the constituency, and particularly in the ongoing legal cases now pending in the courts.

The PNP says Dabdoub has indicated that he will continue to dedicate his time to dealing with the other legal challenges to ensure the constitution is protected and upheld.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)

It is about competing and going for wins. Dabdoub appeared to be a 'goner' when put against Vaz again!

Yeah .. Right!! Like you really believe that. Abe's motive was to get into the House of Parliament.

I agree there are some laws that need to go, but at no time should we have dual citizens in our parlament.

The PNP is filled with recycled labourites.

Hayles, Dabdoub, Shaw, Rowe, and a few other I cant recall now.

Recycled Comradesare alo in the JLP, like Mullings...but I dont recall any other at the moment.

Samuda does not count as he is recycled several times.
