Here comes the myth buster, murderah...

According to RIAA sales figures (that's Recording Industry Association of America) Legend is #56 on the top 100 albums of all time (not just reggae) with 10 million albums sold. How many millions of copies of 'Mr Brooks - A Better Tomorrow' by Movado have been sold yet? Sorry, I couldn't find the information on the web. Anyone know? Anyone care?

But that's old school albums and CDs I hear you say, not digital downloads!

Well according to iTunes Store, when you look at the Reggae Only iTunes sales list, Legend (Remastered Edition) is at #1, and Legend (Deluxe Edition) is at #6. Oh, but shouldn't we count both Legend albums at #1 and #6 as as the same product? Not only is Legend the best selling reggae digital download album right now, it is the best selling reggae album of all time. And iTune digital downloads only account for about 8% of album sales, looking at digital downloads only is absolutely insignificant and cannot determine an artists popularity. CDs still carry the swing, so you have to look at the biggest retailers of CDs, which are Walmart, Target and Amazon.

Movado? Puleeze, not even in the same stratosphere as The Gong! When he starts singing I will give him a half ear to see if he is any good.

But moving on to your specific comments, it’s a bit interesting that people “singing his stuff for so long” is connected with talent, in this case Mavado’s assumed talent! What on earth do you regard “talent” as? In your view, is it something decided on by the response of a tiny segment of the population of a country?

And when I said that Mavado is “not talented,” this had nothing to do with me liking him or not liking him, as you assumed! My comment had to do with his recorded output, of which I’m fully aware (just as I’m aware of the recorded material of a super-talented, non-European group like the Maurice White-led “Earth, Wind and Fire,” just to cite one example)!

“European standards” indeed! Trust me, if I were you, I would not make such comments especially seeing that you know absolutely nothing about me or my musical inclinations or influences or direction.

I mean no disrespect to you, Me, as you’ve often posted comments both here as well as on the track and field forum next door with which I have agreed fully. However, if your intention is to monitor and make ridiculous comments on my posts, then I will also reply to yours, minus the ridiculousness!
You say end of story as if you are the authority, so I simply said it must be the end of yours you are referring to.

As far as talent I have already stated that clearly he is good at arranging his songs and his lyrics clearly touch people. That is why people like his music. Hence he is talented. When people sing along with "Don't Worry" why you think they like the song? I have also made my statement on Jah Cure who is also talented.

You and sickko with this track and field forum thing. I don't post on any track and field forum and don't know who "Me" is over there (wherever there is).

Don't know why people are starting to get upset simply becaue the man is mentioned in a sentence with Bob. I don't think anyone thinks or is suggesting he is near Bob's level.

My mistake, boss. I actually thought that you were the “Me” who occasionally posted on the track and field forum (and with whom I generally silently agreed).

By the way, my reference to that poster “Me” was actually done in a positive light. As far as I can recall, he generally made a great deal of sense to me whenever he posted.

Welcome back!! It’s been several years since I last saw you post on this forum (although you probably make posts in the soccer section of the forum that I missed)!

historian thinks dancehall artists on a whole have no talent, I can bet any money when Bob Marley was doing his thing you had a "his-torian" saying he had no talent
