No ID, No Entry At Bacchanal

Following the recent ban on 'daggering' and dancehall songs with excessive sexual and violent overtones. Dr. Hopeton Dunn of the Broadcasting Commission last week issued a statement to the media that they will be keeping an eye on Soca and Carnival activities this year to make sure the music and events are in keeping with the newly implemented guidelines.

Since the announcement the Bacchanal Jamaica team have moved swiftly in implementing new stringent measures to protect their product. Last Friday at the 'Bacchanal Gone Hollywood' event staged at Mas Camp on Oxford Road the venue appeared very scanty with patrons compared to opening night the previous week.

According to Samantha Franklin of the organising committee the small crowd was due to their new policy of No ID, No Entry, this was done to ensure that the event remained an adult experience and because alcoholic beverages were being sold on the premises. Therefore if someone comes to the venue who appears underage they will be required to present a valid ID as proof of age to gain admittance.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
